A self priming pump is a centrifugal trash pump that can prime themselves without the need for external priming.

Before the self priming pump is started for the first time, a certain amount of liquid needs to be poured into the pump body. When the motor or engine drives the impeller to rotate, the impeller rotates at high speed to generate centrifugal force. Under the action of centrifugal force, the liquid is thrown out of the impeller and enters the water pressure chamber of the pump body.
As the liquid is thrown out, a certain vacuum is formed in the center of the impeller. Due to the effect of atmospheric pressure, the external liquid is pressed into the suction pipe and enters the pump body through the suction port, thus realizing the self priming process. This process will continue until the pump can normally transport the liquid from a low place to a high place or from one place to another.
When the pump is filled with liquid, it enters the normal working state. The impeller continues to rotate, transferring mechanical energy to the liquid, increasing the pressure energy and kinetic energy of the liquid. Under the action of pressure, the liquid is transported to the required place through the outlet of the pump, such as transporting water from a pool to a high water tank.

Structure features of self priming pump
1.Pump body structure:
The pump body of a self priming Centrifugal pump usually has a large volume, which is to store enough liquid to facilitate the formation of vacuum and self-priming at startup. The flow channel design inside the pump body is also critical. A reasonable flow channel can reduce the resistance of liquid flow and improve the efficiency of the pump.

2.Impeller design:
The impeller is one of the core components of a self priming pump. Its shape and size will affect the performance of the pump. Generally speaking, the impeller of a self priming pump is enclosed and semi-open type.

3.Sealing device:
Self priming pumps require good sealing devices. Because if the seal is not good, air will enter the pump body, affecting the self priming performance and normal operation of the pump. Common sealing methods are mechanical seals. Mechanical seals have good sealing performance.
