How to deal with the leakage of stuffing box
Causes of centrifugal pump failure:
① The packing in the stuffing box of centrifugal pump is not pressed tightly.
② The packing in the stuffing box of centrifugal pump is wrongly wrapped or the packing is worn or the properties are changed.
③ The shaft of centrifugal pump is bent.
④ The cooling water flowing into the stuffing box is not clean, which causes the pump shaft to wear and open.
Centrifugal pump maintenance method:
① First, use spanner to tighten gland screw of stuffing box to compress the packing. If the failure cannot be eliminated, open stuffing box again to check the packing condition; if the packing is too loose or the number of layers is insufficient, it shall be rewound and added.
② Open the packing box of the water pump and check the filling quality and performance of the packing. If the packing method is improper, the packing shall be refilled according to the correct method; if the packing is worn or the properties change (such as different thickness of asbestos rope, drying, hardening, etc.), the new packing shall be replaced. Packing method: generally, asbestos rope is used to weave the packing into various specifications with different thickness. After being soaked with butter, the packing is pressed into strips with square section, and graphite powder is coated on the outer surface. Several sections of the packing with appropriate specifications are cut according to the thickness of the shaft and put into the packing box. The number of layers of the packing should be appropriate, Generally, it is better to use 4-6 layers and wrench to properly tighten the gland of stuffing box (generally, the amount of water dripping is 60 drops / min).
③ First, open the pump body, remove the pump shaft of the water pump and carry out the calibration. Then correct or replace according to the calibration.
④ First of all, loosen the open water plug and drain the cooling water in the stuffing box, and then refill the clean cooling water. Then, take out the pump shaft for inspection, and repair or replace it according to the specific situation of inspection.
